How to teach it

Trace sides and corners on a flat shape. Then touch the flat faces of a cube and name the different features.

Ask your student

Are we counting a side of a flat shape or a face of a solid?

If your student needs help

If the terms are confused, place the flat shape beside a cube and point to each feature.

Make a practice set

Select the worksheet, answer key, or both. When both are selected, the answer key prints after the questions. Keep it separate if you want your student to work independently.

After your student finishes

Ask the child to point to a side, a corner, and a face using paper shapes and a cube. Explain what makes these features different.
