How to teach it
Shade tenths as complete columns, then count the same amount in hundredths. Match both fraction forms to decimal notation.
Example to work through together
Use the model below as you explain the example. Have your student point to the quantities as you discuss them.
7/100 = 0.07
70/100 = 0.70
Seven hundredths and seventy hundredths are different amounts. In 0.07, the zero keeps the tenths place empty so the seven stays in the hundredths place.

How many hundredths have the same value as one tenth?
If your student needs help
If the student writes 0.7 for seven hundredths, use the chart to show the empty tenths place.
Choosing and using the worksheet
Each sheet has two fraction-to-decimal questions, two decimal-to-hundredths questions, and two tenths-to-hundredths questions. Hundredths numerators range from 1 to 99; tenths numerators range from 2 to 9. The original decimal forms keep two places.
Make a practice set
Select the worksheet, answer key, or both. When both are selected, the answer key prints after the questions. Keep it separate if you want your student to work independently.
After your student finishes
Ask whether the blank needs a whole decimal or only a numerator. Explain why equivalent forms name the same amount.
