How to teach it
Read the requested count aloud. Have the student circle pictures one at a time and stop when that count is reached.
Example to work through together
Use the model below as you explain the example. Have your student point to the quantities as you discuss them.
Try this together: put seven counters on a table and say, “Please give me three.” Let the child move one counter at a time while saying “one, two, three.” Stop and count the selected group to check.
On the worksheet, a circle plays the same role as moving a counter. Each circle identifies one selected object. The remaining objects stay outside the selected group.

If your student needs help
If the student circles every picture, count the selected group separately from the whole collection.
Make a practice set
Select the worksheet, answer key, or both. When both are selected, the answer key prints after the questions. Keep it separate if you want your student to work independently.
After your student finishes
Count only the circled pictures to check. A different selection from the example key is correct when it contains the requested number of distinct objects.
