How to teach it
Read both numbers by place value, then compare from the greatest place. Stop at the first difference.
Example to work through together
Use the model below as you explain the example. Have your student point to the quantities as you discuss them.

The hundred-thousands match. Zero ten-thousands are fewer than five ten-thousands, so stop there.

Choosing and using the worksheet
Each set contains six distinct ordered pairs from the original bank. Numbers range from 0 through 999,999; smaller numbers can appear alongside larger ones. A set does not guarantee an equal pair, a zero, or a particular place of difference.
Make a practice set
Select the worksheet, answer key, or both. When both are selected, the answer key prints after the questions. Keep it separate if you want your student to work independently.
After your student finishes
Ask the child to name the first different place and justify its value. If the numbers are equal, ask how they checked every place.
