How to teach it
Draw three pizzas and share them among four students. Connect each share to 3 ÷ 4 and 3/4 before trying an amount greater than one.
Example to work through together
Use the model below as you explain the example. Have your student point to the quantities as you discuss them.
Sharing 3 pizzas equally among 4 children gives each child 3 ÷ 4 = 3/4 of a pizza. Sharing 7 pizzas among 4 gives 7/4 = 1 3/4 pizzas each.
